Piraeus to Spetses by sea

Athens Piraeus boat Spetses

Route map: Athens Airport, Piraeus, Spetses

Spetses is a car-free island in the Saronic Gulf, reached from Piraeus — Athens' port at the end of Metro Line 1 — by fast passenger boats that leave from Gate E8 (Aero catamarans from Gate E9). There is no car ferry to Spetses: every boat is a passenger-only craft (Flying Dolphin hydrofoils, the Magic 1 catamaran and Alpha Lines' high-speed ferry). This site puts the Athens-to-Piraeus links, the gate, the operator and the first steps on Spetses in one place, from official sources only.

The route in brief

  • Athens → Piraeus: Metro Line 1 (or Line 3 from the airport); the X96 express bus also runs Piraeus ↔ airport.
  • Piraeus port: all Spetses boats from Gate E8 (Aero catamarans Gate E9), about a 10-minute walk from Piraeus metro station.
  • Sea: Hellenic Seaways, Hellenic Seaways and Alpha Lines — fast passenger craft only.
  • On Spetses: the boat docks in Spetses town; cars are banned, so travel up the hill by foot, donkey or water taxi.

We do not publish sailing times or fares. They change with the season and the weather; check the operator before you travel.
